Queenie Soriano

Queenie Soriano

Queenie Soriano is an athletic trainer at San Diego State, beginning her tenure in 2010-11. Soriano works directly with the women's basketball team, as well as the women's golf program.

As the team's head athletic trainer, her primary responsibility is the overall health of the student-athletes, working closely with a team of physicians and other athletic trainers on staff to provide the best quality care. In addition, Soriano has state-of-the-art equipment at her disposal, including a SWIM-Ex Unit and Alter G anti-gravity treadmill to rehabilitate injuries and return the student-athletes to the court better than before.

A graduate of San Diego State, Soriano received her bachelor of science degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training in 2004. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a student athletic trainer for the Aztec football, women's tennis, women's soccer and water polo teams and became certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association in 2004.

Prior to her return to Montezuma Mesa, Soriano spent seven years at the University of New Mexico, including the last five as an assistant athletic trainer after receiving her master's degree in sports administration from the school in 2006.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Soriano prepped at Mount Miguel High School in nearby Spring Valley, where she competed for the basketball and volleyball teams. Soriano and her wife, Sarah, live in La Mesa with their daughters, Brooklyn and Anna.
