2023-24 Season
Indoor: Competed in four meets, including the Mountain West Championships … Finished sixth in the MW Championships in the 60m hurdles … Ran a PR, and second fastest mark in program history, of 8.23 at the MLK Invitational and the prelims of the MW Championships … Finished second overall at the MLK Invitational, but was the top collegiate finisher … Qualified for the 60m hurdle finals at three of the four meets she raced in, finishing in the top six overall each time … Also ran in the 60m dash twice, posting a personal best of 7.71 at the MLK Invitational.

Outdoor: Reached the quarterfinals of the 100m hurdles at the NCAA West prelims for the second consecutive year … Finished 15th with a wind-aided time of 13.19 after running a 13.21 in the first round … Won the 100m hurdles at the Mountain West Championships with a personal best of 13.05, the fifth fastest mark in program history … Her 13.05 also ranks fifth in Mountain West history …  Totaled seven meets throughout the season, including the MW Championships and NCAA Prelims.

2022-23 Season
Indoor: Earned All-Mountain West honors, finishing second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.39, which is tied for eighth fastest in program history … Counting the conference championships, competed in four indoor meets, running primarily in the 60m and 60m hurdles … Won her first collegiate event in her first career meet as part of the 4x400m relay team at the UW Invite … Also finished fourth in the 60m hurdles at the same meet … Ran a lifetime-best 7.83 in the 60m at the WSU Open … Finished fourth in the 60m hurdles at the WSU Open.
 
Outdoor: Qualified for her first NCAA West Preliminary Round in the 100m hurdles, reaching the semifinals and finishing 22nd … Earned All-Mountain West honors for her second-place finish in the 100m hurdles … Ran a lifetime best, and seventh fastest time in program history, 13.23 at the MW Championships in the 100m hurdle prelims … Also set a PR of 24.98 in the 200m … Totaled six meets during the outdoor season, primarily running the 100m hurdles … Finished top ten in all four of her regular season meets, including a seventh place effort at the Mt. SAC Relays.
 
High School
A four-year letter winner, James had a very decorated career high school career at SCPA and San Diego High School … Earned back-to-back All-State First Team, All-CIF First Team, All-League First Team, and Eastern League Athlete of the Year honors her junior and senior seasons … She won back-to-back 100m hurdle state titles, back-to-back 100m hurdle and 300m hurdle CIF Division 1 titles, and back-to-back 100m hurdle, 300m hurdle Eastern League titles as well as a the 2021 Eastern League Long Jump title … Academically, she was a Golden State merit diploma recipient and owned a cumulative 4.0 GPA … She was also named to the 2021-22 Union Tribune All-Academic Team.

Charlize James was born June 29, 2004 in San Diego … Daughter of Lana Garner James and Charles James … Mom competed at Tulane and Dad competed at UNLV … Hobbies include dancing, specifically classical ballet … Majoring in psychology … Plans to join the field of forensic psychology or going pro on the track … Chose the Aztecs over UCLA, Fresno State, UNLV, and San Jose State.
