SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State softball team (20-17, 5-7 Mountain West) is set for its final mid-week competition of the 2026 regular season, when it hosts rv/-- Nevada (26-13, 8-4 MW) for a doubleheader on Wednesday.

The first game is scheduled for noon PT with the second game to start about half an hour following the conclusion of the first game. Both games will air on the Mountain West Network.

SDSU is 36-16 against Nevada all-time. This decade, the Aztecs are 10-7 when facing the Wolf Pack including regular season and Mountain West Tournament games. Each of the last two years, Nevada has won two of three games between them in the regular season while the Aztecs won in the MW Tournament. Since Nevada joined the Mountain West for the 2013 season, SDSU is 25-13 against them. Against common opponents (Oregon State, UC Riverside, Utah State) this season, SDSU is 4-2 and Nevada is 5-2.

Last week, San Diego State played a three-game series at home against Utah State. The teams played on Thursday and Friday nights as well as Saturday before having Sunday off. The Aztecs scored twice in the top of the first in the series opener and led until the Aggies tied the score in the sixth. SDSU went back up in the bottom of the inning, but USU scored twice in the seventh to win it. SDSU coasted to a 9-1 win in five innings in the middle game. Quinn Waiki homered twice in the contest, driving in three runs and Kaila Pollard also knocked in a trio of runs during the game. SDSU led 8-0 after four innings but a homer in the top of the fifth kept the game going. Olivia Gigante doubled on the first pitch of the bottom of the inning and pinch runner Mia Rodriguez advanced on a wild pitch and scored to end the game when the throw deflected off her helmet and landed on top of the SDSU dugout. On Saturday, the Aztecs trailed 4-1 after five before rallying to score two runs in the seventh inning and had two runners on base, down by a run with no outs. However, USU escaped the jam to end the ballgame. Ava Schaffel followed her Mountain West Pitcher of the Week with another quality performance, limiting the Aggies to one run on two hits across three innings with a pair of strikeouts. Key-annah Pu’a had a 2.55 ERA in 11 innings.

Two-time MW Player of the Week Jade Ignacio (.410, 1.038 OPS, 4 HR, 30 RBI, 20 R, 9 2B, 5 SB) and Jazmin Williams (.369, 1.044 OPS, 8 HR, 28 RBI, 29 R, 5 SB) lead the Aztec hitters.
