Women’s Tennis on the Road in Fresno and San Jose

San Diego State women’s tennis is set for another road trip this weekend, facing Fresno State at 2 p.m. on Friday and San Jose State at noon on Sunday.

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis is set for another road trip this weekend, facing Fresno State at 2 p.m. on Friday and San Jose State at noon on Sunday.

Entering the weekend with an 11-6 record and 4-1 in the Mountain West, the Aztecs are coming off a road sweep where they earned 4-2 victories over Colorado State and Wyoming. The Scarlet and Black captured the doubles point in both matches. Ninon Martinache led the team with three wins, including two in singles. Yasmine Kabbaj, Gloria Alogo and Liisa Varul also won their respective singles matches to push the Aztecs to two victories.

Fresno State is 12-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play, most recently defeating New Mexico 4-1 and Air Force 4-2.

San Jose State sits atop the Mountain West standings with a perfect 6-0 conference record and is 15-1 on the season. On an 11-match winning streak, the Spartans shut out New Mexico 4-0 in their last outing on Sunday.

Following this weekend’s road slate, the Aztecs will return to The Mesa to take on Utah State on April 11 and New Mexico on the 13th. Both matches are scheduled for a noon start time.
