SEATTLE, Wash. – The Aztec men's soccer team (5-8-4, 1-5-3) fell at No. 1 Washington (15-0-3, 7-0-2) 3-0 Sunday afternoon. The Aztecs held the Huskies without a shot on goal for the first 53 minutes, but then UW scored three goals in an eight-minute span in the second half.
UW scored their first goal in the 70th minute when Kalani Kossa-Rienzi scored from 25 yards out.
In the 76th minute, the Huskies struck again following a free kick. Following a deflection in the box, Nate Jones snuck the ball inside the near post.
Less than two minutes later, UW's Imanol Rosales scored on a strike from 20 yards outs.
The Huskies outshot the Aztecs 12-2 and 9-0 in the second half. SDSU didn't have a shot on goal and their two shots came from Inigo Villaldea and Beto Apolinar.
THE NOTE
SDSU's four bench players combined for just 96 minutes. 10 of the Aztecs' 11 starters played 70 or more minutes.
