Aztecs Kick Off Season at Anteater Opener

IRVINE, Calif. – The Aztec cross country team kicked off the 2022 season at the UC Irvine Anteater Opener, finishing fourth in the 4k.
 
Jessica Kain paced the Aztecs, finishing in 14:12.0 which was good for fifth place overall. Kain's time was 10 seconds better than the mark she recorded at this event last year.
 
Next up for the Aztecs was Lauren Harper (18th) and Vanessa Cabello (19th), who clocked in at 14:50.6 and 14:51.0 respectively. It was the first collegiate competition for Cabello.
 
Bella Peretti, also making her collegiate debut, finished fourth among Aztecs with a time of 14:55.6 (22nd place).
 
Taylor Lustyan rounded out the SDSU top five with a time of 15:14.2 (26th place). Freshman Maddy Parone was right behind Lustyan, finishing in 15:15.4 (27th place).
 
Also running for the Aztecs was Amber Elias (30th, 15:27.6), Nicole Meyer (34th, 15:45.6) and freshman Zala Sekavcnik (39th, 16:05.7)
