SAN DIEGO – A record 184 San Diego State student-athletes earned Academic All-Mountain West designation for the spring semester, eclipsing the previous best of 98 honorees from last year. The announcement was made on Wednesday from the Mountain West's office in Colorado Springs, Colo.
To be eligible for 2021 Spring Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. The athletic contribution/participation requirement was omitted for this award this year due to the impact of COVID-19.
With 38 student-athlete honorees, women's track and field earned the most awards among Aztecs who competed in the winter and spring semesters. Women's swimming and diving and baseball were second with 23 and women's soccer was third with 18 awards.
