SAN DIEGO - San Diego State redshirt freshman wide receiver Isiah Macklin had two touchdown receptions on Saturday to highlight the Aztecs' annual scrimmage at the school's Fan Fest event at San Diego Stadium.

Before Macklin's performance, the SDSU defense picked up where it left off in 2016, stopping the offense on five straight possessions, the last four of which were of the three-and-out variety.

Then starting on its own 42-yard line with quarterback Ryan Agnew under center, the sophomore navigated a four-play drive that lasted two minutes, culminating in a Macklin 23-yard touchdown reception. Aiding the drive was a 13-yard rush by Chance Bell.

A pair of three-and-outs followed the TD, but the offense got to work quickly once the second quarter started. On the first possession, Chris Laviano directed a nine-play touchdown drive that featured three catches by Collin Andrews, including a 26-yarder, a big catch by Mikah Holder and a six-yard scoring catch by Macklin. Similar to Macklin's first TD, the extra point was converted by John Baron II.

In the final 10 minutes of the half, SDSU scored just once more, receiving a 36-yard field goal from Baron II after a pair of seven-yard rushes by Bell got the Aztecs into field-goal range.

The third quarter featured more sustained drives by the offense, starting with the first one after a 10-minute halftime break. On the initial drive, Christian Chapman moved the ball 57 yards in eight plays due in part to Kaegun Williams' 50-yard rush on 4th-and-1. The possession ended in a 30-yard field goal by Baron II.

Three drives later, Agnew connected with tight end Parker Houston on a 32-yard catch that put the ball on the 17. From there, Chase Jasmin took over, rushing for 14 yards to the three-yard line and then crossing the goal line from two yards out for the score. Baron II connected on the PAT.

In the fourth quarter, which had a running clock, Jeff Clay intercepted Mark Salazar on the first play of the frame and returned it 45 yards for the final touchdown/score of the night.

For the offense, it was led by Williams' 100 yards rushing on 20 carries with Jasmin adding 60 yards on 16 attempts. Andrews led the receivers with four catches and 53 yards, and Macklin finished with 29 yards on his two TD grabs.

Defensively, Parker Baldwin and Garrett Binkley led all Aztecs with seven tackles apiece. Randy Ricks had a team-high three tackles for loss and Kyahva Tezino shared game-high honors with Ricks as both had two sacks.

San Diego State will continue its preparation this week for its Sept. 2 season opener vs. UC Davis. Game time for the home game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PT. Season tickets are currently on sale by visiting GoAztecs.com or by calling the Aztec Ticket Office at (619) 283-7378.
