SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) Winston Shepard scored 20 points and San Diego State used a second-half surge to cruise past San Jose State 74-56 Saturday night. The win was the fourth in the row for the Aztecs, who have won 15 of their last 18 games.

Shepard was 6 of 11 from the field, 7 of 9 from the line and added six rebounds. JJ O'Brien was 7 of 9 for 15 points and Trey Kell scored 12 as San Diego State shot 60 percent (28 of 47) overall.

The game also marked the return of senior forward Dwayne Polee II. Polee, who collapsed in the game against Ball State on Dec. 22 and had missed the last 15 games prior to tonight. Polee, who was cleared by medical doctors to play earlier this week, made a three-point shot and had a steal in 13 minutes of action.

San Jose State led 36-35 at the break after Rashad Muhammad's 3-pointer with one second left. Muhammad drilled another trey on the first shot of the second half, then San Jose State went cold- enduring scoreless stretches of 8:28 and 4:54 - as San Diego State went on a 20-2 run and opened a 55-41 lead.

Muhammad finished with 27, while Darryl Gaynor II had 23 as the two players combined for all but six of the Spartans points. The rest of the team was 2-of-10 shooting.

San Diego State's next game is against Boise State next Saturday in San Diego. The Aztecs currently have a one-game lead in the loss column of the Mountain West Conference standings over both Boise State and Wyoming.
