SDSU Postgame Notes vs. New Mexico
Final Score:  San Diego State 35, New Mexico 7
GENERAL NOTES
* San Diego State improved to 23-15 all time against New Mexico and has won each of the last three meetings. The Aztecs' three-game win streak is the longest vs. the Lobos since claiming 13 in a row from 1984-1996 ... Today is the first time since 1994 that SDSU has never trailed in a victory over New Mexico.
* With the team's victory tonight, Rocky Long already has more wins in his inaugural season at San Diego State than the previous four first-year coaches - Brady Hoke (4 in 2009), Chuck Long (3 in 2006), Tom Craft (4 in 2002) and Ted Tollner (4 in 1994) ... Long's 5-3 record through eight contests is the best start for an Aztec first-year coach since Denny Stolz also went 5-3 in 1986.
* SDSU did not allow an opponent to score in the first quarter for the second time this season (also Cal Poly) ... New Mexico's touchdown with 32 seconds remaining in the first half were the first points allowed by the Aztec defense in a span of 59:28, dating back to Wyoming's field goal to end the first half last Saturday.
* The Aztec defense has allowed opposing offenses to score no more than one touchdown in the second half of all eight contests in 2011 ... This is the second consecutive game the Aztecs have shut out an opponent after the break ... Air Force and TCU scored only 10 points, the most SDSU allowed in the second half of a game this season (1 TD, 1 FG each) ... Of the 184 points allowed this year by the defense, only 47 have been scored after the break (also 7 vs. Cal Poly, 6 at Army, 7 vs. Washington State, 7 at Michigan, 10 vs. TCU, 10 at Air Force, 0 vs. Wyoming, 0 vs. New Mexico).
* SDSU notched a season high five rushing touchdowns, beating the previous high of four vs. Washington State ... The five rushing touchdowns are the Aztecs most in an outing since also having five at New Mexico on October 19, 1996 (SDSU won 48-42).
* SDSU held New Mexico to only 162 total yards, including 74 on the ground ... This is the second time this year that an opponent has failed to rush for at least 100 yards (also vs. Washington State - 51 yards) ... New Mexico's 162 yards of total offense are the fewest by an Aztec opponent since Fresno State had 136 on Nov. 7, 1998 ... The 162 yards are fourth fewest total offensive yards allowed in SDSU school history.
* SDSU has 10 interceptions in 2011, including two tonight, matching the team's 10 picks in 13 outings last year.
* The Aztecs went over the 200-yard mark in team rushing yards for the fifth time in eight outings in 2011. It is the seventh time in the last 10 games and 11th time in the last 21 outings that SDSU has reached the 200-yard mark.
* SDSU did not have a turnover in a game for the third time this season ... The Aztecs did not have any giveaways vs. Cal Poly and Army ... SDSU has no turnovers in four of its last nine outings and has one turnover or less in each of its last three games ... The Aztecs have won the turnover battle in six of eight games this year (they were tied at 4-4 vs. TCU).
PLAYER NOTES
Ronnie Hillman, So., RB
* Posted his 13th career 100-yard rushing game in his 21st career outing ... Has run for over 100 yards in nine of his last 10 games and in seven of eight in 2011 ... His seven 100-yard rushing outings this year are one more than he had a year ago as a true freshman ... 13 career 100-yard rushing efforts are already tied for third in Aztec career history ... Hillman entered the game as the leading rusher in the nation at 151.0 ypg.
* Surpassed the 1,100-mark in season rushing yards, the 11th time that has been accomplished in Aztec history ... Moved into fifth in SDSU career history in rushing yards, moving past Norm Nygaard, who had 2,619 yards from 1952-54.
* Notched his 30th career rushing touchdown in the third quarter to become just the third Aztec to reach that milestone, joining Marshall Faulk (57) and George Jones (34) ... Hillman has at least one rushing TD in 16 of his 21 career outings, including in six of eight contests in 2011.
* Recorded at least two receptions in a game for the 11th straight contest ... Has 17 catches in 2011, after tallying only nine in 2010.
Walter Kazee, Jr., RB
* Scored his first touchdown of the season to give the Aztecs a 7-0 lead in the first quarter ... It was the first rushing score by an SDSU player other than Ronnie Hillman this season ... It is Kazee's first touchdown since the 2010 Utah State game ... Added the Aztecs' second and third TDs as well, giving him his first career multiple TD outing ... Second SDSU player to have three rushing TDs in a single outing in 2011, joining Hillman, who had four vs. Washington State.
Ryan Lindley, Sr., QB
* Had his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass snapped at 17 ... The 17 straight games was the fourth-longest active streak in the nation (FBS) ... Threw for over 200 yards in the 34th time in his career and the sixth consecutive contest ... Lindley now has 11,340 career passing yards and needs just 26 more to pass Max Hall of Brigham Young as the all-time passing leader in Mountain West Conference history.
