SAN DIEGO -

Wyoming-San Diego State Postgame Quotes

SAN DIEGO STATE HEAD COACH Rocky Long

On what he saw after the game:
"We didn't make enough plays to win the game. It wasn't the defense's terrible performance in the first half. It wasn't the offense's poor performance in the second quarter. It wasn't us missing field goals or extra points. When you lose, it's a total team problem. I'll take responsibility for the poor defensive showing in the first half, obviously. To be honest with you, we didn't do anything different in the second half. Obviously in preparing for the game, we didn't show them the right things and get them used to reacting to the right things because they killed us with screens early in the game. They put us on our heels and when we got on our heels, we couldn't tackle, we couldn't break on the ball and we couldn't cover anybody. The two screen passes were what put us on our heels, so we obviously didn't show the screens enough in practice."

On if the bye had anything to do with the first half:
"We weren't ready for the speed of the game, but they had a bye week too. So that's not an excuse either."

On being nervous all week about the match-up with Wyoming:
"I'm nervous about every game, but for some unknown reason people didn't give Wyoming the credit they deserve. Wyoming is a good football team. I guess everybody knows it now. Nobody wanted to admit it going into the game. Whether you think the stuff that our players hear and see matters or not, it does. They hear the same things that I hear and they read the same things I read and they see the same things on the Internet and everything else. We have to be a more mature football team so none of that stuff bothers us."

SAN DIEGO STATE PLAYERS

Quarterback Ryan Lindley
On where the team goes from here:
"We play New Mexico next weekend. We will go watch film tomorrow, work out, have a day off Monday and get back to work. We won't do anything differently. We will focus on our next opponent."

On Abel Perez:
"He is our teammate, we need to bring him up. He is our teammate, first and foremost."

Linebacker Miles Burris
On the second half:
"We came out with more energy and executed better than the first half."

Running Back Ronnie Hillman
On his performance:
"Credit goes to the offensive line. Ryan got the ball to me. All the credit should go to the offensive line. They played really well tonight."

WYOMING HEAD COACH DAVE CHRISTENSEN

On the game:
"You know what, we'll take any win where we score one more point than they do, or more. I told these guys at the beginning of the year, and we talked about it earlier in the season, winning is tough. We found that out tonight and our kids found a way to get it done. It wasn't perfect. I thought our offense was exceptional in the first half, but not too good in the second half. Our defense played well both halves, except for about three or four big plays that were really disappointing. Other than that I think they did a tremendous job of shutting down a pretty potent offense. They made the plays and they had to make them to win, bottom line. We found a way to win and our kids did it."

On the difference of the offense in the second half:
"I have to watch the film, but it was three and out over and over and we just couldn't get anything going. It's disappointing. They're a good team with a good defense. You have to give San Diego State a lot of credit because they're a fantastic football team. We just found a way to get a couple more points than they did. They missed a couple field goals that were a difference in the game. Obviously, the importance of getting that field goal right before half time, I think we all understand how important that was."
