SAN DIEGO - Atiyyah Henderson (Rockledge, Fla.) posted a pair of long touchdown runs to highlight San Diego State football's first intrasquad scrimmage of 2008 fall camp Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium. The Aztec offense scored four of its five TDs on the ground, but allowed eight sacks and had an interception returned for a touchdown at the annual Family Day event.

"The offense really played well," Aztec head coach Chuck Long said. "(Quarterback) Ryan Lindley had great command out there and moved the ball effectively. I thought our number one defense played well. It was a good confidence builder on both sides of the ball."

The team began the day with a special teams period and a few series of non-tackling plays, before going for 54 plays for just over an hour.

The Aztec defense started out strong as linebacker Andrew Preston (Centennial, Colo.) intercepted a Drew Westling (Mission Viejo, Calif.) pass and returned it 40 yards for the score on just the second play from scrimmage. The offense bounced back on the next drive when Henderson found the endzone for the first time with a 36-yard run for a touchdown.

After coming up empty on its next drive, quarterback Ryan Lindley (Alpine, Calif.) found Mekell Wesley (Chandler, Ariz.) down the right sideline for a 38-yard touchdown reception. Lindley also engineered the Aztec offense's next possession which ended in a three-yard TD run by Brandon Sullivan on a drive that started at the defense's 20-yard line.

Henderson would later add his second score of the afternoon on a 29-yard rush, while senior Tyler Campbell (Austin, Texas), one of the Aztecs' six team captains in 2008, punched one in from two yards out to end scoring.

Lindley completed 11 of his 13 pass attempts for 124 yards and a touchdown to lead the trio of Aztec signalcallers. Henderson ended up with five carries for 79 yards and two touchdowns, while Wesley was the leading receiver with his five receptions for 76 yards and one score.

Defensively, six Aztecs had four tackles apiece, including B.J. Williams (Aurora, Colo.) and Jonathan Soto (West Covina, Calif.), who had a pair of sacks apiece, and safety T.J. McKay, who posted a team-best 2.5 tackles for loss.

The SDSU place-kickers had a solid day, making 12 of their 15 attempts, highlighted by Bryan Shields' (Bonita, Calif.) 5-for-5 performance.

The Aztecs will have their first off day of 2008 fall camp on Sunday before resuming practice Monday with the first of three two-a-day workouts scheduled for next week.
