- SAN DIEGO STATE POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Steve Fisher:

On The Game:

"We had no film and had little idea of what to expect from UC San Diego. They did a great job of running their stuff and to their credit they made shots. In the second half we were much more effective in every way. This was good for us."

On Chris Manker:

"Chris Manker is our most skilled, fundamental player. Not just outside, but inside as well. Tonight he got some confidence and played very well. He was able to slow his play down and execute well and I'm hopeful that will continue throughout the season."

On UCSD:

"UCSD played their socks off in the first half and did a great job of running their stuff."

On the second half:

"Dutcher suggested switching every screen and when we did that we were much more successful."

SDSU Player Quotes:

Marcus Slaughter:

On the game:

"It felt good. We played hard and we had fun out there. We gave our reserves a chance to get in there at the end. We knew it was a big lead, so we didn't want to play silly. That's what the coaches really coach. They help out in that area a lot. I thought we did well at the end."

Brandon Heath:

On the game:

"We were unselfish tonight, but we have to be ready on Wednesday. USD is a good squad. They played Arizona tough, so we have to come out hard against them."

Chris Manker

On the game:

"My teammates found a way to get me the ball. Hopefully we can do the same on Wednesday."

UC San Diego Head Coach Bill Carr:

On San Diego State:

"They're a good team. They got the ball inside to (Chris) Manker, (Marcus) Slaughter and the other big guys. We aren't the biggest team in the country, that's for sure, and they just wore us down."

On the difference of play between the first and second halves:

"We shot the ball and executed better in the first half. They got to us with their defensive pressure in the second half. They also did a good job of spreading the floor and taking advantage of their size. We have to get our team to play a complete game in order to win. It's disappointing that it went from eight points at halftime to 35 at the end, but we just have to move on."

On the Tritons tough opening schedule:

"We've played four Division I schools now including our two exhibition games. It will make us stronger for our conference games."
