Duxbury returned to SDSU after earning his Master’s degree in sports leadership from Northeastern University in the summer of 2018. Since 2017, Duxbury has served as a high performance camp coach at Chinook Performance Racing, where he was responsible for coaching high performance men’s and women’s rowing camps, as well as the inclusive 2x of Patricia Walsh (Para-rower) and Jennifer Goldsack (2008 Olympian).

In his first season back at SDSU, Hannah Broadland earned all-AAC first team honors, while freshman Helen Bauer made the second team. Academically, the Aztecs set a program record by having six student-athletes named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes in 2019. Additionally, 30 student-athletes were named to the AAC All-Academic team.

From 2016-18, Duxbury was the Associate Head Coach of the Rio Salado Rowing Club in Tempe, Ariz., where he was primarily responsible for all aspects of the masters/competition team and developed and implemented training plans for athletes ages 19 and up.

Duxbury previously held the role of Assistant Women’s Rowing Coach at San Diego State for three seasons (2013-16) and was part of the staff when the team transitioned from Conference USA to its current conference, The American. In addition to assisting Zack in coaching a competitive AAC team, Duxbury served as the team’s recruiting coordinator and helped to develop the walk-on program and training of the team’s novice rowers.

Prior to his first stint as an Aztec assistant coach, Duxbury served on the coaching staff of the Arizona State University club rowing team from 2012-13. In addition to his duties with the Sun Devils, Duxbury founded the adaptive rowing program at Rio Salado Rowing Club, where he coached masters crews. Prior to Rio Salado, he founded and served as head coach for 11 seasons with the Tempe Junior Crew program, as more than 60 of the rowers he coached went on to row with Division I schools. In addition, Duxbury's tenure at TJC was highlighted by the participation of two of his athletes in the junior women's double at the 2007 World Junior Rowing Championships in Beijing, China.

A native of Worcester, Mass., Duxbury began his rowing career as an undergraduate at Worcester State College, where he rowed for four seasons primarily in the team's top boat, the lightweight four. Duxbury also competed with the Quinsigamond Rowing Association and the Vesper Rowing club during summers off from his collegiate team. Duxbury continued his education at Arizona State, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in liberal studies.
