Played in 56 of the team’s 57 games, starting 45 times, primarily at first base… Batted .261 (35-for-134) with 11 doubles (fourth on the team), a triple, a team-leading eight home runs, 36 RBIs (second on the team) and 24 runs scored (third on the team) in addition to 13 walks… Also placed fourth on the team with eight stolen bases on just nine attempts… Tallied nine multi-hit games and led the team with ten multi-RBI games while finishing fourth with three multi-run games… Her five go-ahead RBIs were fourth on the roster while her eight game-winning plays were second and she led the team with three walk-off plays including two walk-off hits (both grand slams)… Put the Aztecs on the board against Oklahoma on Opening Day with a pinch-hit go-ahead three-run home run… Capped off a seven-run seventh inning rally with a pinch-hit walk-off grand slam to defeat Charlotte at the Clearwater Invitational on February 16… Doubled twice and scored against Hawai’i in the Mary Nutter Classic on February 23… Over the final two games against Utah State on March 14-16, went 4-for-6 with two doubles, three RBIs, four runs scored and three walks… Launched a three-run home run to provide important insurance runs against New Mexico on March 22… Tallied seven total bases at Colorado State on April 6, hitting a two-run triple and scoring, hitting a solo homer, and walking and scoring in her three plate appearances… Hit her second pinch-hit walk-off grand slam against UNLV on April 12, giving the Aztecs an eight-run lead to clinch the run rule… Hit a go-ahead game-winning homer against San Jose State on May 2 to clinch a bye in the Mountain West Tournament… Belted a three-run homer and singled in a run against Boise State in the Mountain West Tournament on May 9… Down to the last strike of the Aztecs’ season, extended it for one more inning with an RBI single to score Jayleen Hernandez and tie the game against UC Santa Barbara in the bottom of the seventh in the NCAA Los Angeles Regional on May 17… Her 332 putouts paced the team and were sixth in the conference as she finished with a .988 fielding percentage.
ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY (2023-24)
Started 34 of her 70 games for the Sun Devils... Accumulated a .254 batting average across two seasons at Arizona State with a .757 OPS... Tallied 11 extra base hits including five home runs... Knocked in 23 runs and scored 18 times... Had an eight-game hitting streak from Feb. 23-March 2, 2024, finishing the stretch 9-for-20 with eight RBIs and three homers including a walk-off grand slam against Idaho State on Feb. 24… Singled twice and homered while driving in a trio of runs in her first career three-hit game against Maine on Feb. 10, 2024… Belted her first collegiate home run at Utah on April 8, 2023… Batted .389 (7-for-18) as a pinch hitter during her freshman season… Her first career hits and RBIs came at SDSU Softball Stadium on a single and a two-run double in an 8-2 victory against the Aztecs as part of the SDSU Season Kickoff on Feb. 9, 2023.
CLUB BALL
Played two seasons each for Huntington Beach, California’s Explosion 18U Gold and Anaheim, California’s BSC Bengals Briggs… Helped lead the Bengals to the Elite 8 of the Colorado IDT in 2022… Competed for the Bradenton Slice of the FGCL Summer League in 2023, leading the league in home runs with 11 in 23 games while batting .353 with a 1.215 OPS.
HIGH SCHOOL
Lettered all four years at Foothill High in Santa Ana, California… Helped the Knights to a second place finish in the Crestview League as a freshman and fourth place finishes as a junior and senior… In 15 games as a senior, hit .469 with a 1.595 OPS on her way to First Team All-Crestview League, Second Team All-Orange County and Third Team All-California accolades… Was named a starter for the 2022 Orange County All-Star Game… Excelled in the classroom as well, taking multiple AP classes, earning AP Scholar with Distinction accolades and making the Principal’s Honor Roll in all four seasons.

Shannon Angela Cunningham was born on June 3, 2004, in Newport Beach, California… Daughter of Susan and Gary Cunningham… Mom, Susan, ran track at Cal State Fullerton… Is majoring in journalism with an emphasis in sports and plans of becoming a sportswriter or an analyst on a sports broadcast after graduation… Picked number 17 because it was the number of former Anaheim Angels slugger Darin Erstad… Lists her favorite athlete as former San Diego Wave FC player Alex Morgan… Originally wanted to play soccer collegiately and played baseball as a youth, appearing in the Little League State Tournament as an 11-year-old… Chose SDSU over Louisiana Tech, Boise State and Cal State Fullerton.
