At San Diego State
- Blane Morgan is in his fifth season at San Diego State as the quarterbacks coach.
- Under Morgan’s guidance last year, Aztec signal-callers ranked second in the Mountain West and 12th nationally with 14.68 passing yards per completion.
- In addition, Morgan oversaw the development of Ryan Agnew, who posted a 6-1 record in seven starts and owns the sixth-highest winning percentage nationally among any 2019 returner at the position with a minimum of seven starts. In SDSU’s victory over Arizona State, Agnew became the first quarterback from a non-Power 5 school to defeat a nationally ranked team from a Power 5 school in his starting debut since South Florida’s B.J. Daniels against No. 18 Florida State in 2009.
- Morgan played a pivotal role in the development of Christian Chapman, who graduated as the Aztecs’ winningest starting quarterback with 24 victories.
- Among the Mountain West leaders during the 2017 campaign, Chapman was first in touchdown-to-interception percentage (3.3, T-27th nationally), second in interception percentage (1.6, 21st nationally), third in pass efficiency rating (139.13, 46th nationally), fourth in touchdown percentage (5.3) and yards per completion (12.83, 47th nationally). Additionally, Chapman went 33 quarters between throwing his first and second interceptions of the year (167 attempts).
- In 2016, Chapman’s 61.0 completion percentage was the third best by an SDSU quarterback since 1996. The redshirt sophomore ranked second in the MW in pass touchdown percentage (11th nationally, 8.0) and touchdown-to-interception percentage (T-23rd nationally, 3.33).
- The 2015 Aztecs went 12 straight games without throwing an interception, the most in SDSU’s Division I era. San Diego State finished the year by going without an interception in 208 passes for the country’s longest active streak. The team finished second in the conference with a 142.10 passing efficiency rating and 19th nationally with 14.10 passing yards per completion.
Previous Experience
- Morgan coached at Air Force from 2003-14 in three different capacities. During the last eight seasons of his tenure with the Falcons, he served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
- From 2007-14, when Morgan was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Air Force, the Falcons ranked 24th nationally in passing efficiency rating (139.1). During that time, the Falcons ranked third nationally in yards per completion (14.82).
- As a team, the Falcons enjoyed great success while Morgan served as the offensive coordinator. The Falcons posted a 59-44 record (57.3 percent) and advanced to seven bowl games in that eight-year span.
Playing Experience
- A two-year starter at quarterback for Air Force, he posted a 19- 3 record as a starter at the position. He owns the highest career winning percentage by any signal caller in Falcons history.
- As a senior, Morgan led Air Force to a 12-1 record and earned Western Athletic Conference offensive player-of-the-year accolades. He led Air Force to a victory over Washington in the Oahu Bowl.
- His junior season, Morgan posted a 10-3 record with the Academy.
- Morgan posted a 3-0 record as a starting quarterback against other service academies.
- He is the only QB in school history to guide the Falcons to an outright conference title.
- Was named team most valuable player (1998) as a junior and was the Academy male athlete of the year (1999) as a senior.
- Earned three letters playing football for the Falcons.
- Ended his three-year career having thrown for 3,324 yards and 22 touchdowns and rushed for 2,567 yards and 39 touchdowns.
- He recorded multiple interceptions just one time in 28 career games.

- Morgan played for his father, Barry, at Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, Texas.
