PRIOR TO COLLEGE: Was a four-year varsity competitor at Santa Margarita Catholic High School under head coach Chris Malec … Helped the Eagles capture the CIF Southern Section Division II championship as a junior in 2019 … His team also finished 45th in the MaxPreps national rankings that season … Rated as the 18th-best third baseman in California for the 2020 high school graduating class by Perfect Game and was listed among the website’s top 500 recruits nationally … Received preseason All-America honorable mention for the California region by Perfect Game in 2020 … Earned all-tournament honors for the Saddleback Cowboys club team at the 2016 PG West MLK Freshman Championships and the 2017 California Underclass World Series … Also played football as a prep, appearing at fullback, tight end and defensive line … Chose the Aztecs over the likes of Arizona, Arizona State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine, Loyola Marymount, Long Beach State, Oregon and UC Santa Barbara.
