SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team (3-1-1) is heading to Lubbock, Texas, to take on the (rv) Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-0-3) on Sunday night at 7 p.m. CT (5 p.m. PT). The match will be broadcast on ESPN+ to paid subscribers
Last week, SDSU hosted the Pacific Tigers. The Aztecs rolled to a 7-0 win, matching the largest margin of victory against a Division I opponent in program history. Katie Senn, who entered the match with two career goals, recorded a brace. Victoria Miller also tallied her second goal of the season and Naima Castro, Rory Schank and Maya Stinson each scored for the first time with San Diego State. Schank’s goal was the first of her career. Alexis Leath also scored for SDSU. Leath and Alexyz Nakamoto each tallied two assists in the victory. In goal, Kailey Carlen and Sammy Martinez combined for a shutout, the Aztecs’ third this season. On Thursday night, at Oklahoma State, Castro scored again, striking in the 17th minute. The Cowgirls were granted a pair of penalty kicks. Carlen made a terrific save on the first one, but the second, by Addy Lang in the 75th minute, allowed Oklahoma State to tie the score. Kenny Moore appeared to have a go-ahead goal for SDSU in the final minutes, but it was called back for offsides and the match finished in a 1-1 draw.
The Scarlet and Black have played the Red Raiders five times, coming once a year from 2016-19 and one meeting in 2025. Texas Tech won all five meetings. This is SDSU’s second trip to Lubbock as four of the five previous matchups took place on the SDSU Sports Deck. In the 2017 match at Texas Tech, the Red Raiders won by a 1-0 score.
The Red Raiders, coming off a 1-1 draw at Southern Methodist on Thursday night, have played their last two home games against teams that will travel to the SDSU Sports Deck later in the season. Boise State fell 2-0 at John Walker Soccer Complex on August 23 and will play in America’s Finest City on October 1 in San Diego State’s Pac-12 Opener. Pepperdine drew 1-1 at Texas Tech on August 27 and will be in San Diego on September 17 in the Aztecs’ final non-conference match of the season.
SDSU will wrap up its road non-conference slate at Utah Valley on September 12 at 6 p.m. PT. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ to paid subscribers.
