SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team (1-0) will play its first home match of the 2026 season on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against the No. 10 Washington Huskies (1-0) on the SDSU Sports Deck. The match will be broadcast on the Pac-12 YouTube page.

SDSU got off to a good start in 2026 with a 2-0 win at UC San Diego last Wednesday. Kenny Moore scored a spectacular goal on a give and go with Katie Senn in the 22nd minute to get the Aztecs on the board. In the process, Moore became the first Aztec since Claire Watkins during the 2020-21 season to score in their San Diego State debut. Goalkeeper Kailey Carlen made a phenomenal diving stop in the waning minutes of the first half for her first save of the season and one of four in the shutout. Her performance earned her Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors. Victoria Miller, who scored San Diego State’s first three goals of 2025, found the back of the net in the 55th minute to add on.

The Scarlet and Black have won two of their last three matches against the Huskies, but Washington leads the all-time series 6-2-1. The teams most recently played in Portland, Oregon, in 2014, in the Nike Portland Invitational, with the Aztecs winning 2-1. UW emerged victorious when the squads faced off exactly six years earlier in the same tournament. SDSU picked up their first win in the series in 2005 in Seattle. Prior to that, Washington won in 2004 in San Diego and 2000 in Portland. The matchup was played annually from 1991 through 1994 with a draw in 1992 and the other three ending in favor of Washington.

The Aztecs are seeking their first win against a ranked opponent since a 2-1 win in double overtime at No. 22 Nebraska on September 8, 2017. San Diego State’s last ranked win in regulation came at No. 16 Kentucky by a 2-0 score on August 23, 2015. SDSU last defeated a team ranked in the top ten when it took down No. 10 Michigan by a 3-0 score on August 31, 2014.

San Diego State will finish up the homestand with two more matches. The Aztecs will take on Portland State at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, and Pacific at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 27. Admission is free to all matches on the SDSU Sports Deck and the Aztecs’ home matches are all streamed for free on the Pac-12 YouTube page. Early arriving fans to the match against Pacific will receive a free SDSU scarlet and cream hat.
