LA JOLLA, Calif. – The San Diego State women’s soccer team (1-0) opened the 2026 campaign, its first in the Pac-12 conference, with a 2-0 road win at UC San Diego (0-1) on Wednesday night.

The teams battled for the first 20 minutes with neither able to put a shot on target. In the 22nd minute, Kenny Moore started near midfield and drove towards the goal. She passed it to Katie Senn, who immediately gave the ball back to Moore, who fired from the top of the box with her left foot and found the back of the net for the first SDSU goal of the season. Kailey Carlen picked up her first save of the campaign on a diving stop of a shot by UC San Diego’s Olivia Schiel at 41:59.

Carlen added another save in the 54th minute. Less than a minute later, the Aztecs added on. Victoria Miller took the ball from a Triton at the top of the box and dribbled around the diving goalkeeper before firing into the goal to make it a 2-0 SDSU lead. Carlen tallied her third stop of the night a minute later, followed quickly by the Tritons’ lone save of the night on another shot by Miller.

UCSD’s Ellie Trevino was issued a yellow card in the 82nd minute. UC San Diego had one final push in them, but the Aztecs’ sophomore keeper halted Ava Tibor’s shot in the waning seconds of the 88th minute as the Aztecs held on for the 2-0 victory.

The Aztecs finished the match with more saves (4-1), shots (9-7), corner kicks (5-3) and fouls (8-6) while the Tritons had one more shot on goal (4-3).
