COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Four San Diego State Aztecs softball players have been named to All-Mountain West teams, the league announced Wednesday.
Kaila Pollard made the First Team; Jade Ignacio landed on the Second Team and Lala Macario and Quinn Waiki earned spots as Honorable Mentions.
The postseason awards are voted on by the league’s ten head coaches and take into account Mountain West games only.
In her first season of college softball since 2023, Pollard made her mark, pacing the Aztecs in nearly every offensive category. During conference play, she ranked first on the team in batting average (.410), at bats (78), runs (14), hits (32), doubles (7), triples (2), home runs (7), extra base hits (16), RBIs (24), total bases (64), slugging percentage (.821) and OPS (1.255). The former top three recruit in her high school class started all 25 games, becoming a mainstay in right field for San Diego State. Pollard’s appearance on the All-Mountain West First Team continues San Diego State’s streak of having a player on the top all-conference team in all 27 seasons of the Mountain West’s history. SDSU is the only school to be able to claim the feat.
An All-Mountain West selection for the second straight year, Ignacio did her best work in non-conference play but still shone against conference opponents. She hit .293 with six extra base hits, 16 RBIs and ten runs scored while accumulating a .788 OPS. The backstop also tied for the team lead with a pair of sacrifice flies and had a 1.000 fielding percentage, not making a single error in 66 total chances.
A senior, Macario played every game of the season at the keystone. The second baseman hit .351, the second-best mark on the team and tied for the squad lead with 14 runs scored in conference games. She also ranked highly defensively, tallying 49 putouts and 24 assists.
Last season’s Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, Waiki made her presence felt at the plate as well in 2026. She hit .284 and scored 14 runs while trailing just Pollard with ten extra base hits including five home runs on her way to a .568 slugging percentage and .909 OPS. The everyday shortstop continued her run as one of the top defensive players in the conference, accumulating 41 putouts and 33 assists.
