San Diego State swimmers Moa Bergdahl and Abby Storm have qualified for the 2026 NCAA Championships, set for March 18-21 in Atlanta, Georgia.
SAN DIEGO – San Diego State swimmers Moa Bergdahl and Abby Storm have qualified for the 2026 NCAA Championships, set for March 18-21 in Atlanta, Georgia. The announcement was made Wednesday by the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Selection Committee in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Aztec senior co-captains will be making their first career appearances in the NCAA Championships, which will be conducted at McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech. With their selections, the SDSU swim and dive program has qualified at least one student-athlete to the NCAA Championships for the 16th consecutive season.
A native of Halmstad, Sweden, Bergdahl punched her ticket to the NCAA meet in the 100 breaststroke on the strength of her career-fast time of 59.53 set at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational on Nov. 21, which ranks third in program history and 34th nationally this year.
With her spot clinched, Bergdahl was also chosen to participate in the 200 breaststroke after placing seventh at the Mountain West Championships with an NCAA qualifying standard and season-fast swim of 2:10.97, which ranks 55th in the nation.
Along with her conference finish in the 200 breast, Bergdahl earned four additional all-MW honors at last month's league meet in the 100 breast, 200 individual medley and as a member of the Aztecs’ 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams.
Meanwhile, Storm qualified for the national meet in the 200 backstroke while receiving an invitation to compete in the 100 backstroke.
In the 200 back, Storm captured the event title at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational on Nov. 22, surpassing an NCAA qualifying time of 1:53.27, which ranks second in school history. With her effort, the SDSU senior earned a No. 37 seed entering the national championships.
Earlier at that same Utah Tech meet, Storm led off the Aztecs’ victorious 400 medley relay team with a 100 backstroke split of 52.03, which ranks third on the program’s all-time charts and is slotted No. 44 on the NCAA psych sheet.
At last month's conference championships, Storm garnered all-Mountain West accolades in the 100 and 200 back and as a member of SDSU’s 200 medley and 400 medley relays.
The Aztecs are fresh off their fifth consecutive Mountain West championship and 10th since 2011, totaling 1,367.50 team points to stymie any challenges from the rest of the field, including second-place Washington State (1,102.50 pts).
SDSU’s tremendous depth was featured throughout the meet, as the Scarlet and Black recorded 36 finishes in the championship finals, highlighted by two gold, seven silver and four bronze medals.
San Diego State will wait to see if the duo of Storm and Bergdahl will be joined at the NCAA Championships by any Aztec divers. All qualifying divers will be announced by Thursday, March 12 following the conclusion of the NCAA’s five zone championships.
