SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State softball team (18-13, 3-3 MW) will leave the pacific time zone for the only time in the 2026 regular season this week when it heads to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for a three-game series at New Mexico (13-18, 1-5 MW) from Friday through Sunday.

The game on Friday night is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. PT, Saturday’s contest is set for 1 p.m. PT and the series finale is planned for 11 a.m. PT on Sunday. All three games will appear on MW Network.

SDSU is 85-36 against New Mexico all-time. This decade, the Aztecs are 13-1 against the Lobos. The Aztecs swept a three-game series in San Diego last season, winning 1-0, 6-2 and 7-1. The last time San Diego State went to Albuquerque was for a doubleheader on April 3, 2024. SDSU swept those games by scores of 4-2 and 12-8. The Scarlet and Black swept a three-game series in San Diego in 2023 and took two of three games in Albuquerque in 2022.Against common opponents this season, SDSU is 3-2 while the Lobos are 1-3. New Mexico dropped its season opener at Baylor while San Diego State faced the Bears twice at SDSU Softball Stadium and split the pair of games. The Aztecs opened conference play by winning a three-game series against Colorado State while the Lobos lost their series at Colorado State last weekend.

Last week, San Diego State led twice at UNLV twice on Friday, but ultimately came up short, falling 4-3. After a 6-3 defeat on Saturday, the Aztecs bounced back on Sunday. SDSU trailed 5-0 after four innings. In the top of the fifth, Jazmin Williams homered on the first pitch of the inning before Kaila Pollard also homered two batters later. The Aztecs loaded the bases for Jade Ignacio, who drove a bases-clearing triple deep to center field to tie the game. The Rebels went back up by two runs, and the Aztecs were down to their last out with the bases empty when they rallied again. After a pair of singles, Ignacio launched a three-run go-ahead homer. Williams hit a two-run home run, her second long ball of the day, and Pollard lined an RBI double before Yellen capped off the scoring with a two-run single through the right side and SDSU emerged with a 13-7 win.

Two-time MW Player of the Week Jade Ignacio (.437, 1.114 OPS, 4 HR, 29 RBI, 19 R, 9 2B, 5 SB) and Jazmin Williams (.388, 1.112 OPS, 8 HR, 26 RBI, 25 R, 5 SB) lead the Aztec hitters. Other top hitters for SDSU include Angie Yellen (.400, .988 OPS, 14 RBI, 16 R, 3 HR, 4 2B, 3 SB), Olivia Gigante (.267, .830 OPS, 6 HR, 21 RBI, 10 R, 3 2B), Lala Macario (.247, .649 OPS, 16 R) and Quinn Waiki (.351, .830 OPS, 11 RBI, 9 R, 7 2B). In the circle, Faith Jordan (2.65 ERA, 63.1 IP, 50 K, 8-3, 1 SV) and Ava Schaffel (4.20 ERA, 25.0 IP, 20 K, 1-0) have been major contributors to the pitching staff. Key-annah Pu’a (3.27 ERA, 62.0 IP, 25 K, 4-5, 1 SV) was selected as MW Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 16.
