Aztecs Advance Three Divers to Platform Finals at NCAA Zone E Meet

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – San Diego State advanced three divers to the finals of the platform event on Wednesday to wrap up the NCAA Zone E Championships at Northern Arizona University’s Wall Aquatic Center.

However, the Aztecs fell short in their bid to earn individual spots in the NCAA Championships, as the top seven platform finishers punched their tickets to the national meet.

Belen Cano was the Aztecs’ top diver on the day, finishing 11th out of 18 participants with an aggregate score of 456.55 after placing eighth in the preliminaries with 235.85 points.

In addition, Alina Skrocki tumbled into the 14th position during the final session with 451.55 overall points after completing the preliminary round with a fourth-place total of 257.15 points.

Meanwhile, Keira Kuderka slipped into the 18th spot with a combined total of 415.60 points after placing 15th in the early session with 222.85 points.

Earlier, Isabella Gomez (212.70) finished the preliminaries in 23rd place, while Sophia Hineline (199.50) was slotted 30th. The top-18 finishers in the initial session earned a spot in the final round, with the 18th-place competitor totaling 221.35 points.

San Diego State will have two swimmers compete in the NCAA Championships, set for March 18-21 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Aztecs’ Moa Bergdahl is scheduled to participate in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, while Abby Storm will race in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Both competitors will be making their initial NCAA appearances.
