HOUSTON – The San Diego State swim and dive team finds itself in second place at the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships after completing the first wave of action on Wednesday at CRWC Natatorium on the University of Houston campus.
The Aztecs, who are seeking their fifth consecutive conference title, are slotted second, trailing front-running Washington State by just 16.5 points in the team standings through five events.

San Diego State recorded five top-10 times or marks in program history during Wednesday’s finals session, including the Aztecs’ 400 medley relay team of Abby Storm, Moa Bergdal, Alli Mann and Alyssa Schiller, who combined for a second-place finish of 3:33.28, which ranks second on the school’s all-time charts.
Earlier, SDSU boasted three “A” finalists in the 50 freestyle, led by Kaydence Bispo, who tied for second with a sprint of 22.43, edging teammate Alyssa Schiller, who touched the wall in fourth at 22:45, while Alli Mann followed closely in six at 22.54.
Both efforts by Bispo and Schiller marked career-bests, which also rank seventh and eighth on the program’s all-time performance list, respectively.
Similarly, the Scarlet and Black advanced three divers to the finals of the 1-meter springboard event, highlighted by Isabella Gomez’s third-place showing with a career-best mark of 311.45 points, which is slotted seventh in school history, while Belen Cano placed fourth with a collegiate-high total of 308.60, which is good for eighth on the program’s all-time charts. In addition, Alina Skrocki landed in the seventh spot on Wednesday with 276.65 points, as all three competitors eclipsed NCAA zone qualifying standards.
The Mountain West Championships resume on Thursday with the 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay, along with 3-meter springboard diving. Preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT/8:30 a.m. PT, with finals expected to start at 6 p.m. CT/4 p.m. PT. Links to streaming video and live results may be found on GoAztecs.com.
