SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State football head coach Sean Lewis announced that 23 student-athletes have signed athletic aid agreements on the first day of early signing period on Wednesday. It is the third recruiting class for Lewis, who became SDSU’s 19th head coach on Nov. 29, 2023.

The Aztecs rebounded from a 3-9 first season under Lewis in 2024 to a 9-3 campaign so far this year with a bowl game still to be played. The six-win improvement for the Aztecs in regular-season play from last year (3-9) to this season (9-3) matches the largest by SDSU in program history (since 1921), joining a six-win improvement from 1960 (1-6-1) to 1961 (7-2-1).

SDSU’s early signing class features 13 on defense and 10 on offense. The 23-player class has 17 from the state of California, three from Texas, two from Washington and one from Hawaii. Twenty-one of the 23 athletes are joining the Aztecs out of high school.

Additional signees could be added in the coming days and will be added to this release.

Of the 13 signees on defense, three are EDGEs in Dominic Coelho (Rocklin, Calif./Rocklin High), Crosby Kelly (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo High) and Robby Lavata'i (University Place, Wash./Curtis Senior High), three are linebackers in Alijah Lash (Haslet, Texas/VR Eaton High), Jeramiah Lewis (San Jose, Calif./Wilcox High/College of San Mateo)) and Javari Nash (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Crean Lutheran High), and three are safeties in Rahmeer Henderson (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Colony High), Tainoa Lave (Kapolei, Hawaii/James Campbell High) and Cammeron Purnell (El Cajon, Calif./Lincoln High). There are also two defensive linemen - Roman Paseka (Long Beach, Calif./San Juan Hills High) and Koi Taiese (Oakland, Calif./McClymonds High) - and two cornerbacks - Dareon Edmonds (Ontario, Calif./Eleanor Roosevelt High) and Jamison Starks (Los Altos, Calif./Mountain House High/Foothill College).

On the offensive side of the ball, three are wide receivers - Daishaun Davis (Menifee, Calif./San Jacinto High), Carson Diehl (San Diego/La Jolla High) and Derek Stevenson (Katy, Texas/Patrica E. Paetow High) - and another three are offensive linemen - Brian Borjon (Baldwin Park, Calif./Bishop Amat High), Harlem Nellum (Bakersfield, Calif./Frontier High) and Jarvis Williams (Moreno Valley, Calif. /Valley View High). The offensive signees also feature two tight ends in Jack Ellis (Novato, Calif./St. Vincent De Paul High) and Elijah Muliufi (Spanaway, Wash./Bethel High), and quarterback Brady Campbell (Bakersfield, Calif./Frontier High) and running back Josiah Lucas (Arlington, Texas/South Grand Prairie High).

In October 2024, the NCAA elected to eliminate the National Letter of Intent (NLI), which had been a part of the college recruiting process since 1964. The NLI was replaced with financial aid agreements between the NCAA and student-athletes. The NCAA approved the early signing period in 2017, which runs this year from Dec. 3-5. The mid-year 2-4 (junior college) transfer signing period also commenced, while the regular signing period begins on Feb. 4, 2026.

SDSU finished the regular season with a 9-3 record, including a 6-2 mark in league play. San Diego State tied with Boise State, New Mexico and UNLV atop the league standings, but was left out of a MW Championship appearance this week because of computer rankings.

San Diego State awaits its bowl destination on Sunday.
