- Winners of six consecutive games and in sole possession of first place atop the Mountain West standings, San Diego State heads to Hawai‘i for a Saturday night showdown. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. HT (8 p.m. PT), airing on Spectrum Sports and the Mountain West Network, along with San Diego Sports 760, the flagship radio station of San Diego State athletics.
 - The Aztecs, who were picked to finish eighth in the media preseason poll in the 12-team Mountain West, enter Saturday’s contest with a 7-1 overall record and 4-0 mark in MW play, ½ games up on Boise State (4-1) 1 ½ games ahead of Fresno State, Hawai‘i and New Mexico, each who are 3-2.
 - At 7-1, SDSU is off to its best start since the 2021 squad started 7-1. That 2021 team set a program record with 12 victories (12-2) and finished 25th in the final Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
 - This is the ninth time in San Diego State’s Division I history (since 1969) that it has started with at least a 7-1 record through eight games. The Aztecs have started 8-0 in 1969, 1970 and 1975, and 7-1 in 1976, 1977, 2016, 2019, 2021 and now 2025.
 - SDSU is outscoring the opposition this season, 231-80. The 151-point margin through eight games is San Diego State’s largest of its previous six 7-1 starts and largest since outscoring the opponents by 210 points while starting 8-0 in 1975.
 - The Aztecs have finished in the final rankings of the Associated Press Top 25 Poll three times in program history and each of those times they started with a 7-1 record (No. 16 in final AP poll in 1977, No. 25 in 2016 and No. 25 in 2021).
 - SDSU has won six consecutive games, which is its longest streak since starting 7-0 in 2021 and tied for the seventh-longest active streak in the country.
 - San Diego State is outscoring the opposition, 176-44, over the six-game winning streak. That’s an average of 29.3-7.3 or a winning margin of 22.0 points per game.
 - The Aztecs have won three straight road contests, which is also tied for the seventh-longest active streak in the nation.
 - SDSU is one of 17 schools with one or fewer losses this season (4 undefeated teams, 13 one-loss teams).
 - San Diego State is 4-0 in Mountain West play for the third time in league history. The other two times that the Aztecs started 4-0 in MW play - 2015 and 2016 - they went onto win the MW championship.
 - San Diego State is receiving votes in both the AP Top 25 poll and the Coaches poll for the fourth straight week. The Aztecs have 30 votes in the AP poll (up from 14 last week), the 31st most in the poll, and 30 in the Coaches poll (also from 14 last week), the 34th most.
 - SDSU is coming off a 24-7 victory over Wyoming on Saturday night for Homecoming. Lucky Sutton ran for a career-high 158 yards and a touchdown, and the San Diego State defense dominated once again.
 - It was Sutton’s second straight 100-yard rushing game and fourth of the season. Sutton leads the Mountain West in rushing yards per game (102.50, 10th in FBS) and rushing yards (820, 12th in FBS), while ranking second in rushing touchdowns (8, T-32nd in FBS).
 - After allowing the Cowboys to score on their opening possession with a 75-yard drive - the first time the Aztecs have trailed since a 3-0 deficit at Northern Illinois on Sept. 27 - SDSU dominated UW the rest of the way. San Diego State forced nine three-and-outs out of Wyoming’s remaining 14 drives and limited the Cowboys to 110 yards the rest of the game, including just 47 in the second half. The Aztecs forced four UW turnovers, including three interceptions and a fumble recovery.
 - Through eight games, the San Diego State defense leads the Mountain West in rushing touchdowns allowed (2, 1st in FBS), passing yards per attempt (4.99, 1st in FBS), points allowed per game (10.00, 2nd in FBS), yards allowed per play (3.83, 2nd in FBS), pass efficiency rating (93.72, 2nd in FBS), touchdowns allowed (9, 3rd in FBS), defensive touchdowns (4, T-3rd in FBS), red zone percentage (64.71, 4th in FBS), yards allowed per game (246.25, 6th in FBS), third down percentage (28.00, 6th in FBS), passing yards per completion (9.86, 7th in FBS), first downs allowed (112, 8th in FBS), passing yards allowed per game (157.75, 9th in FBS), rushing yards allowed per game (88.50, 11th in FBS), rushing yards allowed per attempt (2.70, 11th in FBS), and passing touchdowns allowed (7, T-13th in FBS).
 - The Aztecs have allowed just 80 points, including 36 of those at Washington State on Sept. 6 and 24 on Oct. 3 vs. Colorado State. If you take away those two games, SDSU has allowed just 20 points in the six other contests (shutouts vs. Stony Brook, vs. California and at Fresno State, three points at Northern Illinois, seven vs. Wyoming and 10 at Nevada).
 - The 80 points allowed are the third fewest allowed by SDSU through eight games in its Division I history, only trailing 61 in 1970 and 62 in 1975.
 - LB Owen Chambliss leads the San Diego State defense with 72 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss and two sacks and an interception. CB Chris Johnson has 40 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups, while S Dalesean Staley has 37 tackles, an interception, forced fumble and nine pass breakups. The Mountain West preseason defensive player of the year EDGE Trey White had two sacks against Wyoming and now has six for the season.
 - On July 1, 2026, the Aztecs officially become a member of the new Pac-12 along with league stalwarts Oregon State and Washington State, as well as Boise State, Colorado State, Gonzaga (for men’s basketball only), Fresno State, Texas State and Utah State.
 - SDSU is 66-34 (.660) in league play since the current 12-team Mountain West conference began play in 2013 (includes championship and bowl games), which ranks as the second-best mark in the league behind Boise State (86-19, .819). Utah State (third, .586), Fresno State (fourth, .583) and Colorado State (sixth, .490) each will join San Diego State in the new Pac-12 next season.
 - Saturday is the 40th meeting between San Diego State and Hawai‘i with SDSU owning a 26-11-2 advantage.
 - The Aztecs have won 11 of the last 13 games in the series and 20 of the last 24 outings dating back to 1990.
 - The last four games in the series - all SDSU wins - have been decided by one score and a total of 21 points.
 - After the Hawai‘i game, San Diego State returns to America’s Finest City to meet Boise State on Saturday, Nov. 15.
