The top two teams meet one another in the MW Championship game on Friday, Dec. 5.
- SDSU, which has won the MW Championship three times before - 2012, 2015 and 2016 - meets the Spartans (3-7, 2-4 MW) this Saturday night before traveling to New Mexico (7-3, 4-2 MW) on Friday, Nov. 28.
- SJSU is the first team San Diego State will play without a .500 record at game time since Oct. 11 at Nevada (the Aztecs went 3-1 over the four-game stretch against teams with at least a .500 mark).
- At 5-1, this matches SDSU’s third-best start in MW history. The only two times San Diego State started with a 6-0 mark in MW play - 2015 and 2016 - it went onto win the league title.
- This is the sixth time the Aztecs have started with at least a 5-1 league record in its 27 seasons of MW play (6-0 in 2015 and 2016, 5-1 in 2012, 2013, 2021 and 2025).
- SDSU is a perfect 5-0 at home this season, outscoring the opposition, 162-38, with two shutouts.
- San Diego State is one of 26 teams with a perfect record at home this year.
- The Aztecs are looking to finish with their first undefeated home regular season since the 1996 team went 6-0 at home. SDSU also has undefeated home campaigns in 1969 (6-0), 1972 (7-0), 1974 (7-0-1) and 1977 (7-0).
- San Diego State is one of 26 schools with two or fewer losses this season (3 undefeated teams, 8 one-loss teams, and 15 two-loss teams).
- The Aztecs are receiving votes in both the AP Top 25 poll and the Coaches poll for the sixth straight week. SDSU has 12 votes in the AP poll (up from five last week), tied for the 32nd most in the poll, and 19 in the Coaches poll (up from one last week), the 33rd most.
- Through 10 games, the San Diego State defense leads the Mountain West in rushing touchdowns allowed (3, T-1st in FBS), defensive touchdowns (4, T-3rd in FBS) and touchdowns allowed (15, T-3rd in FBS), points allowed per game (12.50, 4th in FBS), pass efficiency rating (101.39, 4th in FBS), passing yards per attempt (5.32, 4th in FBS), yards allowed per play (4.08, 5th in FBS), first downs allowed (146, 6th in FBS), total yards allowed per game (262.40, 7th in FBS), rushing yards allowed per attempt (2.96, 11th in FBS), rushing yards allowed per game (100.20, 14th in FBS) and passing touchdowns allowed (10, T-20th in FBS), and ranks second in red zone defense (70.00, 4th in FBS), passing yards allowed per game (162.20, 9th in FBS), passing yards per completion (10.01, 12th in FBS) and third down percentage (31.41, 15th in FBS).

- San Diego State is coming off a 17-7 win over Boise State on Saturday night. Playing in rainy conditions for a second straight game, the Aztecs dominated the line of scrimmage and played old-school football in the win.
- Consider some notes on the win:
- The Aztecs handed Boise State its second straight loss. It’s just the third time since the Broncos joined the Mountain West in 2011 that they have had two consecutive conference losses (also 2015 and 2021).
- SDSU handed BS just its second loss when coming off an idle week (bye week) in its Mountain West history. Boise State is now 17-2 (.895) when coming off a bye week since joining the MW in 2011.
- The Broncos are now 29-2 (.935) since 2001 when coming off an idle week (bye week).
- BSU also slipped to 17-2 (.895) over its last 19 MW games.
- The Aztecs snapped Boise State’s eight-game road conference winning streak.
- SDSU snapped a three-game losing streak against the Broncos and are now 5-6 all-time in the series.
- A year after losing, 56-24 (-32), to Boise State on Nov. 1, 2024, San Diego State won, 17-7 (+10), tonight. That’s a point differential of 42 points.
- San Diego State’s 277 rushing yards were the most allowed by Boise State since a 280-yard effort by UCLA in the 2023 Los Angeles Bowl and the most in a conference game since Wyoming had 278 on Nov. 19, 2022.
- SDSU averaged 6.02 yards per rush attempt, its highest mark against a FBS school since averaging 6.58 yards vs. Toledo on Sept. 24, 2022 and highest in a Mountain West game since averaging 6.39 yards per carry vs. Hawai’i on Nov. 14, 2020.
- The game combined for just 121 passing yards, the third-fewest in a SDSU game in its Division I history (since 1969), only trailing 31 vs. Army West Point in the 2017 Armed Forces Bowl and 104 at UTEP in Nov. 15, 1980. - Sutton ran for 150 yards on 25 attempts (6.0 avg.), the first player to run for at least 150 yards against Boise State since Wyoming’s Titus Swen had 212 on Nov. 19, 2022. He’s just the fifth player to run for at least 150 vs. Boise State in the last 10 years and the most ever by an Aztec vs. the Broncos.
- This is the first time SDSU has wins against Boise State and Fresno State in the same season (note that San Diego State didn’t start playing BS until it joined the Mountain West in 2011).
- The only other teams to beat both Boise State and Fresno State in the same season in their MW era are Air Force (2015 and 2016) and Utah State (2015).
- On July 1, 2026, the Aztecs officially become a member of the new Pac-12 along with league stalwarts Oregon State and Washington State, as well as Boise State, Colorado State, Gonzaga (for men’s basketball only), Fresno State, Texas State and Utah State.
- SDSU is 67-35 (.657) in league play since the current 12-team Mountain West conference began play in 2013 (includes championship and bowl games), which ranks as the second-best mark in the league behind Boise State (86-20, .811). Fresno State (third, .587), Utah State (fourth, .584), and Colorado State (sixth, .480) each will join San Diego State in the new Pac-12 next season.
- Saturday marks the 48th meeting between San Diego State and San José State with SDSU leading, 24-21-2.
- The Aztecs are 9-2 in the last 11 games played between the teams and 16-5 in the last 21 games.
- SDSU has won four straight games in the series when playing in San Diego and is 12-2 against the Spartans in the last 14 meetings in San Diego.
- The Spartans are coming off a 55-10 loss at Nevada on Saturday night.
