SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team returned home on Thursday to play first-place Boise State and led 1-0 before the Broncos scored twice in the final nine minutes to come back.

San Diego State’s (6-3-5, 2-1-3 MW) Alexyz Nakamoto put a shot on target at the 20-minute mark, but it was saved by Boise State (7-3-6, 5-0-2 MW) keeper Ava de Leest.

SDSU goalkeeper Kailey Carlen saved shots by Sophie Schmautz in the 22nd and 28th minutes to keep the Broncos off the board.

The Aztecs jumped ahead at 30:20 when Emma Fuller, who scored the game-winner against San Jose State on Sunday, took a pass from Katie Senn, who was passed the ball by Victoria Miller, and booted it into the back of the net.

Carlen saved a shot by Kenzie MacMillian in the 36th minute.

Fuller put another shot on frame in the 41st minute but it was saved as was Ciara Jade Mitchell’s shot on target just as the final countdown of the first half started.

SDSU kept on the attack early in the second half with Alexys Ocampo forcing a save in the 53rd minute.

The officials gave Mia Hambro Svendsen a yellow card for time wasting in the 56th minute.

Carlen stopped another shot by MacMillian just past the 60-minute mark.

Boise State’s Jillian Anderson scored at 81:20 to tie the score and at 88:58 to pull ahead.

Mitchell took a nice shot in the 88th minute to try and put the Aztecs back on top but it was saved.

San Diego State led in corner kicks (4-3) and fouls (6-3) while Boise State had more shots (14-13) and saves (5-4) and each team had six shots on goal.

THE NOTE I
Katie Senn picked up her seventh assist of the season, moving her into a tie for first in the Mountain West with Kenzie MacMillian of Boise State, while Senn’s 0.50 assists per game are the most in the conference, ahead of MacMillian’s 0.44.

THE NOTE II
The defeat ended a number of streaks for the Aztecs. SDSU suffered its first unranked defeat of the season, snapping a ten-match unbeaten streak, and fell in a home conference match for the first time since 2022.
