SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team played its first home conference match of 2025 on Sunday on the SDSU Sports Deck, ultimately tying 1-1 with Colorado College.
San Diego State (5-2-3, 1-0-1 MW) controlled the ball for the entire first half, outshooting Colorado College (3-4-3, 0-1-1 MW) 12-1 in the opening 45 minutes. The Aztecs kept Tigers goalkeeper Regan Wallace busy, putting five shots on goal. Alexyz Nakamoto and Karoline Lundstrom each put multiple shots on target between the 25th and 29th minutes before Rory Schank forced a save in the 42nd minute heading into halftime.
Just 18 seconds into the second half, Colorado College’s Sophia Mayne had her team’s first shot on goal, but it was saved by Kailey Carlen.
SDSU’s Charlie Gerson and Mia Hambro Svendsen were given yellow cards in the 49th and 53rd minutes, respectively.
Nakamoto took the Aztecs’ first shot of the second half in the 68th minute, forcing yet another Wallace save.
Carlen logged her final two saves of the day in the 75th and 77th minutes.
Katie Senn put two more shots on frame in the 77th and 79th minutes but couldn’t get one by Wallace.
San Diego State broke through at the 82:04 mark, when Senn took a corner kick and found Alexis Leath for the second goal of her season and career to put the Aztecs up 1-0.
Three minutes later, Colorado College responded with a goal of their own by Finley Schoenbeck to tie the match at one.
The Aztecs finished the match with more shots (20-5), shots on goal (9-4) and corner kicks (5-2) while Colorado College had more saves (8-3) and each team had seven fouls.
THE NOTE I
San Diego State remains unbeaten in home conference matches since the start of the 2023 campaign at 11-0-1, but its 11-match home conference winning streak comes to an end.
THE NOTE II
SDSU completed an unbeaten September, going 4-0-2. The Aztecs are 4-0-3 in their last seven matches with their last defeat coming at No. 2 Stanford on August 21. San Diego State is also undefeated against unranked teams as their other loss came against No. 25 Texas Tech in the season opener.
