SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team (3-2-1) plays its final two non-conference matches of 2025 on the SDSU Sports Deck this week. The Aztecs will battle Nevada (1-5-1) at 7 p.m. on Thursday night and Hawai’i (2-4-3) at noon on Sunday. The Hawai’i match will appear on the Mountain West Network.

Last week, the Aztecs broke out for seven goals across their two matches, both wins. After falling behind 2-0 at Pepperdine on Thursday, SDSU rallied to score the final three goals of the match due to a brace by Victoria Miller and Katie Senn’s first career goal. On Sunday, San Diego State scored four times while Kailey Carlen blanked UC Riverside. Miller scored once again to lock up Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week honors, Senn scored for the second straight match and Charlie Gerson and Lily Boudet each scored for the first time in their collegiate careers.

The highlight of Nevada’s season so far was a 2-1 win at Northern Arizona on August 17. The Wolf Pack followed it up with a 2-2 tie against Cal Poly on August 28. They have lost their last four matches, including being outscored 10-1 in their last three contests.

The Aztecs have played the Wolf Pack 16 times, winning 14 of the matches including all nine in San Diego. SDSU won the first 12 matchups through the spring 2021 season. Nevada earned their first win of the series by a 3-2 score in Reno in 2021 before a 3-0 Aztec shutout in San Diego in 2022. The next year, the Wolf Pack won 3-2 in Reno once again. In last season’s matchup on the Sports Deck, it was the Aztecs who emerged triumphant with a 5-0 victory.

Hawai’i is coming off a 1-1 tie with Eastern Washington on September 11. The Rainbow Wahine also tied Pepperdine 2-2 on August 17 while the Aztecs earned a 3-2 victory over the Waves last week. Hawai’i’s wins this season have come against Central Arkansas on August 21 and at Sacramento State on September 4.

The Rainbow Wahine and Aztecs have only played six times with all six meetings going to SDSU. The teams played annually between 1995 and 1998, alternating between San Diego and Honolulu. They battled once again in 2005 in San Diego, with San Diego State winning 2-1. In the 2011 UNLV Nike Invitational, SDSU earned a decisive 3-0 win.

San Diego State opens up its conference season next week with a pair of matches. SDSU heads to Phoenix to take on Grand Canyon on Thursday, September 25, before returning to the SDSU Sports Deck for a match against Colorado College at noon on Sunday, September 28. Both matches will be streamed on the Mountain West Network and admission to all matches on the Sports Deck is free.
