SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team scored two goals in each half while shutting out UC Riverside to pick up a 4-0 win on the SDSU Sports Deck on Sunday night.

San Diego State (3-2-1) keeper Kailey Carlen made the first of her two saves just 11:58 into the match on a shot by UC Riverside’s (0-6-1) Rylee Lewis.

The Aztecs got on the board early, scoring twice in a five-minute span. Alexys Ocampo found Victoria Miller seconds into the 21st minute of the match to put SDSU up 1-0. San Diego State added on with Charlie Gerson’s first career goal at 24:54, which came on an assist from a Katie Senn corner kick. The Aztecs nearly added a third goal 30 seconds later, but Trinity Hale saved Alexyz Nakamoto’s shot.

Less than five minutes into the second half, Carlen stopped a shot by Sanaa Guyness to keep the Highlanders off the board.

Redshirt freshman Alexis Leath responded with consecutive shots including one on target that was saved by Hale in the 55th minute.

Just past the 72-minute mark, UC Riverside cleared the ball outside the box but right to a waiting Lily Boudet, who fired into the back of the net for her first career goal.

Five minutes later, Boudet tacked on her first career assist when she found Katie Senn to make it 4-0 Aztecs.

Emma Fuller and Mia DeJohn each put shots on goal over the next couple of minutes, as did Rory Schank in the 86th minute, but Hale made saves on all three.

In the final four minutes, SDSU nearly added on two more goals, but they were ruled offsides. Grace Goins put the ball into the net in the 87th minute before the referees whistled offsides and Rory Schank had a one-on-one opportunity with the goalie in the 90th minute but was called offsides.

The Aztecs finished the match with more shots (18-6), shots on goal (9-2) and corner kicks (9-3) while the Highlanders had more saves (5-2) and fouls (8-6).
