SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team played UC San Diego on Saturday night at Snapdragon Stadium. Neither team was able to find the back of the net as Kailey Carlen logged her second shutout of the season.

San Diego State (1-2-1) controlled the ball, finishing with possession for 65% of the match. Victoria Miller put a shot on goal late in the seventh minute, but it was saved by Charlotte Wilfert. Mia Lane forced another save, this one by a position player, six minutes later before the Tritons (1-1-2) responded with a shot from Alexis Nguyen a minute later, which was saved by Carlen. Neither team put another shot on goal until the waning minutes of the first half, when Briahna Gieger forced another Wilfert save late in the 43rd minute.

In the second half, SDSU outshot UCSD 12-2. Carlen notched her second save at the 50:31 mark on a shot by Lindsey Park before making her final stop of the night 13 minutes afterwards. San Diego State would not allow the Tritons to have another opportunity to take a shot the rest of the match. In the 83rd and 84th minutes, SDSU unleashed a flurry of shots with Wilfert making a pair of saves and two more shots missed their target from short range. Alexis Leath would take one last shot in the 87th minute but it sailed over the goal and the match finished in a draw.
