SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis head coach Nicolas Vinel has announced the hiring of Dylan Parsley as the program’s new assistant coach. Parsley, who comes to The Mesa after two years as an assistant coach with the University of San Diego’s women’s tennis team, will join Vinel in his first season as head coach after taking over for Peter Mattera.

“We're thrilled to welcome Dylan to SDSU,” said Coach Vinel. “His experience at the highest levels of college tennis and his ability to connect with and develop student-athletes make him an incredible addition to our program. We’re excited for the future of SDSU women’s tennis.”

Parsley, a 2023 graduate of Azusa Pacific University, spent the first two years of his coaching career at San Diego. In 2024, he helped lead the 23rd-ranked Toreros to a 17-8 overall record (5-1 WCC), as well as their second consecutive appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In 2025, USD finished the season ranked 39th in the nation with an 11-10 overall record (5-1 WCC), earning wins over No. 26 Pepperdine (4-3) and No. 54 Washington State (4-2).

Prior to his stint at USD, the El Paso, Texas native played for four seasons at Azusa Pacific, during which the Cougars won back-to-back Pacific West Tournament championships in 2022 and 2023. Parsley earned a bachelor’s degree in communication management while also garnering ITA Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-PacWest distinction.

“I’m very excited to be at San Diego State,” said Parsley. “I’ve always loved the city of San Diego, and I’m happy to come to this great program and be a crucial addition to the team.”
