SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team (1-1) will hit the road this week for the first time in 2025. The Aztecs are heading to Palo Alto, California, to take on No. 2 Stanford (2-0) at 7 p.m. on Thursday night in a match that will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

Last week, the Aztecs fell 4-0 to No. 25 Texas Tech to start the year before Victoria Miller scored with assists from Mia Lane and Katie Senn and Kailey Carlen logged her first collegiate shutout in a 1-0 win over Cal State Bakersfield on August 17.

Stanford opened the year with a pair of home matches against West Coast Conference teams. The Cardinal beat San Francisco 7-0 to begin the season on August 14 before defeating No. 16 Santa Clara 5-1 on August 17. Last season, Stanford went 16-5-2 and qualified for the College Cup, falling to Wake Forest 1-0 in the national semifinals.

SDSU and Stanford have played 11 times starting in 1990. The Cardinal have won ten of those matches and the other was a scoreless draw on October 10, 1993. The teams met on the SDSU Sports Deck last season on August 22. Kali Trevithick scored on a penalty kick for the sixth SDSU goal against the Cardinal all-time and first in San Diego. Trevithick’s goal helped the Aztecs to a 1-1 tie heading into halftime, but Stanford scored twice in the second half to win 3-1.

San Diego State wraps up the month of August with a match against UC San Diego at Snapdragon Stadium on August 30 at 7 p.m. Tickets for that match start at $10 and it will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
