Aztecs Blank Fresno State 4-0

San Diego State women’s tennis earned its third consecutive win on the road on Friday afternoon, shutting out Fresno State 4-0 at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.

FRESNO, Calif. – San Diego State women’s tennis earned its third consecutive win on the road on Friday afternoon, shutting out Fresno State 4-0 at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.

The Aztecs improve to 12-6 overall and 5-1 in the Mountain West while the Bulldogs fall to 12-7 on the season and 4-3 in conference play.

The Scarlet and Black captured the doubles point for the third straight match, taking the top two courts. Yasmine Kabbaj and Ninon Martinache cruised to a 6-1 victory over Charlotte Gisclon and Paulina Montiel on court two before Jo-Yee Chan and Liisa Varul secured the point with a 6-3 win over Matilde Magrini and Andjela Lopicic on the top court. Zoe Olmos and Gloria Alogo’s matchup against Eliza Dunbar and Sofia Pizzoni was left unfinished, tied at 4-4.

Martinache was the first to get off the court in singles play, earning a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Lopicic on court four.

Alogo put the third point on the board for the Aztecs, taking down Gisclon 6-0, 6-2 in the third spot.

Kabbaj was the clincher for the Scarlet and Black, taking the top court by a score of 6-4, 6-3 over Matilde Magrini.

Next up, the Aztecs face the Spartans of San Jose State, who sit atop the Mountain West standings with a 15-1 overall record and 6-0 in the league. The match is scheduled to start at noon on Sunday.
