SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s golf team will play in the Yale Invitational West at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif. beginning Monday. The 12-team tournament will feature 36 holes Monday before the final 18 holes on Tuesday with both days beginning with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.

The competitive field features seven schools ranked in the top 50: No. 12 Vanderbilt, No. 15 North Caroline, No. 23 Kansas, No. 27 Oklahoma State, No. 30 Kansas State, No. 32 Cal, and No. 50 Virginia Tech. Also competing are Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Princeton and the host school, Yale.

Benita is coming off the best performance of her career. She tied for ninth at the Causeway Invitational after shooting a one-over-par 217, which was a career low. She carded a one-under-par 71 in her final round, which tied a career best.

Barbaglia is SDSU’s top-ranked golfer and her 18-hole average of 73.26 leads the team.

Phi has the lowest 18-hole average on the team this spring (74.0) and has won two Mountain West Freshman of the Week awards. She has shot back-to-back 222s, which is her career-low.

Narita leads the Aztecs with a 92.1 count percentage on the year.

This will be the third career start and fourth appearance overall for the freshman Omander.

The Greg Norman course plays 6,176 yards and is a par 72.

The forecast calls for temperatures to reach the 70s on Monday but will be cooler on Tuesday with a chance of rain.
