SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s golf team will travel across the Pacific to play in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the famed Royal Kā’anapali Golf Course in Lahaina, Hawai’i next week.

The tournament features a 17-team field made up of mostly west coast schools: Arkansas State, BYU, Cal Poly, Denver, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Mercer, Montana State, Oregon State, Sacramento State, Sam Houston State, Seattle, UC Davis, UC Riverside and Washington.

The Aztec lineup will be Ema Narita, Stephanie Barbaglia, Maya Benita, Kylie Phi and Emilia Omander.

Narita led the Aztecs in their last tournament, the Yale Invitational West, with an even par 216 to tie for 19th place. She has the best scoring average among SDSU golfers in the spring (73.4).

Stephanie Barbaglia is the highest ranked Aztec on the season and is coming off a strong showing in her last tournament where she shot a one-over-par 73 in all three rounds.

Maya Benita is having an impressive spring season and had a career best performance a few weeks ago at the Causeway Invitational when she tied for ninth with a one-over par 217.

Kylie Phi has already won two Mountain West Freshman of the Week awards this spring.

Emilia Omander rounds out the lineup for the Aztecs. She had her best showing at the San Diego State Classic with a personal best 224 (+8).

The Royal Ka’anapali Course is one of only two courses in all of Hawaii designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Arnold Palmer called the 18th hole (par 4) one of the best and most challenging finishing holes he’d ever played.

The forecast calls for ideal weather conditions with temperatures in the 70s.
