RENO, Nev. – San Diego State women’s tennis played its first conference road match on Friday, taking on the Nevada Wolf Pack at the McArthur Tennis Center in Reno. Despite capturing the doubles point, the Aztecs could only secure victories on two singles courts and fell 4-3 in their second Mountain West matchup of the season.

The Scarlet and Black fall to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play while the Wolf Pack improve to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in the Mountain West.

The Aztecs started strong in doubles, taking the top two courts. After Zoe Olmos and Gloria Alogo dropped their court three matchup 6-2 to Wiem Boubaker and Petra Janigova, Jo-Yee Chan and Liisa Varul responded with a 6-3 win over Marlene Foerster and Silvia Costache on court one. Yasmine Kabbaj and Ninon Martinache then clinched the point with a 6-2 win over Amahee Charrier and Kennedy Robinson on the second court.

Nevada rallied in singles play, taking the first set on five courts. Alogo and Martinache were able to come from behind and win their respective matchups, but it wasn’t enough to push past the Wolf Pack.

Robinson then gave the Wolf Pack the lead, taking the court six matchup against Varul by a score of 6-2, 6-3. The Aztecs found themselves behind 3-1 after Kabbaj was bested 3-6, 6-0, 3-6 on the top court.
