RIVERSIDE, Calif. – San Diego State’s Valentina Lopez Arevalo captured the event title in the 3-meter springboard to lead a contingent of six Aztecs at the Lancer Diving Invitational, hosted by California Baptist at Riverside Aquatics Center.
Lopez Arevalo totaled 302.25 points in the final round to take home her fifth individual crown of the season, surpassing another NCAA zone qualifying mark in the process.
SDSU advanced three additional divers to the 3-meter finals on Thursday, including Summer Westmoreland, who finished eighth with a score of 261.75, followed in succession by teammates Taylor Konopacke (252.55) and Olivia Zamudio (252.50).
In a four-school team competition, the Aztec trio of Lopez Arevalo, Westmoreland and Zamudio combined for 267.10 points to finish second behind front-runner California Baptist (312.10), while two squads from the University of San Diego were slotted third (187.70) and fourth (169.90).
The Lancer Diving Invitational continues on Friday with preliminary competition from the platform height, beginning at 11 a.m. PT, followed by final-round action later in the afternoon.
