Aztecs Host SD Spring Invitational

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State men's tennis team will host the San Diego Spring Invitational this weekend at the Aztec Tennis Center from Friday, March 15, through Sunday, March 17. The eight-team tournament will feature the Aztecs in addition to No. 14 San Diego, No. 22 Arizona State, No. 26 Princeton, No. 75 Texas Tech, South Florida and Tulane. The tournament will begin with three matches on The Mesa on Friday and Saturday, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., noon and 3:30 p.m. SDSU will open up on Friday in the noon time slot against the No. 22-ranked Sun Devils.
 
San Diego State (8-2) has won six of its last seven matches. The Aztecs have also won six of seven matches at the Aztec Tennis Center. After a loss to Loyola Marymount snapped a five-match win streak, SDSU bounced back with a 4-0 shutout win over Gonzaga on Monday.
 
The Scarlet and Black have won the doubles point in eight of ten matches, with the duos of Alexander Mandma/Robin Parts (6-0, court 1) and Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice/Bora Sengul (5-1, court 3) leading the way for SDSU. Parts is also undefeated in singles with a 6-0 record.
 
No. 22-ranked Arizona State (10-5) has won five of its last six matches. The Sun Devils are led by No. 3-ranked Murphy Cassone and No. 74-ranked Bor Artnak in singles while Artnak and partner Max McKennon are ranked No. 36 in doubles. The Aztecs are 1-2 all-time against ASU with the Sun Devils winning the last meeting 7-0 in 2008.
