Women’s Tennis Concludes ITA Regionals

San Diego State women’s tennis wrapped up their main draw matches at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships on Saturday with the conclusion of the doubles round of 16.

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis wrapped up their main draw matches at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships on Saturday with the conclusion of the doubles round of 16.

After a first-round bye, Ninon Martinache and Jo-Yee Chan earned an 8-5 win over Fullerton’s Kaytlin Taylor and Diana Yanotovskaya on Saturday morning in the round of 32. The duo was unable to hang on in the round of 16, falling 5-8 to Ahmani Guichard and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer of UCLA.

Zoe Olmos/Vesa Gjinaj and Charlotte Roesch/Gloria Alogo did not advance through the round of 32, coming up short against Taylor Goetz/Duru Soke (Pepperdine) 4-8 and Kate Fakih/Olivia Center (UCLA) 3-8, respectively.

Four Aztecs picked up wins in consolation singles matches to close out day three:
Chan def. Lily Fairclough (USC) 7-6 (7-4), 6-3
Gjinaj def. Mia Jovic (UCLA) 6-1, 6-3
Martinache def. Allaire Berl (Hawai’i) 6-0, 6-2
Olmos def. Tallia Harper (CSUN) 6-1, 3-6, (10-5)

Next up, the Aztecs will host the SDSU Fall Classic at the Aztec Tennis Center from Nov. 8-10.
