SAN DIEGO – Robbie Matei of the San Diego State men’s soccer team was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Matei (Prairie Grove, Ill.) scored a goal and had an assist in the Aztecs’ 3-3 draw vs. UC Davis last Saturday.
Matei assisted SDSU’s first goal which came just 16 seconds into the match. He then scored in the 55th minute to put the Aztecs up 3-2.
Matei, a graduate transfer from American University, is tied for second on the team in goals (3) and third on the team in points (7).
The Aztecs (3-3-2) play at UC Irvine Saturday evening for their final non-conference match of the year.
