SAN DIEGO – San Diego State cross country has announced their schedule for the upcoming 2024 season. The Aztecs will race in seven meets including the Mountain West Championships and NCAA West Regionals.
The year begins at Cal State Fullerton at the season opening Mark Covert Classic on Saturday, Aug. 31. The 5K race will begin at 8:45 a.m. PT at the Titan Track Complex in Fullerton, Calif.
Up next is a two-meet weekend as the team splits up between the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Friday, Sept. 20 and the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The Aztecs will return to Oregon for the second consecutive season, competing in the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Friday, Oct. 11. The following weekend will see a second race in Riverside, Calif. at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The postseason begins in November with the Mountain West Championships on Friday, Nov. 1. This year’s conference championship 6K race will take place in Colorado Springs, Colo. The NCAA West Regionals will be hosted by Washington State in Pullman, Wash. on Friday, Nov. 15.
The Aztecs return six of their 2023 participants led by Vanessa Cabello and Eva Rethmeier, who were the second and third Aztec finishers in four of last year’s races. Maddie Heller, Maddy Parrone, Bella Peretti and Tatum Zinkin also return from last year’s runners as well as Melanie Falkowski and Lauren Harper. The team also adds Isabella Fauria and Samantha Wood who transferred to The Mesa during winter of last year as well as three newcomers in Presley Bennett, Sara Jones and Emily van Valkenburg.
