Shaquena Foote Named MW Track Athlete of the Week

SAN DIEGO Shaquena Foote has been named the Mountain West Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this outdoor season, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Foote competed in two events at the Mt. SAC Relays, both in the elite invitational portion of the meet.
Individually, she ran her first 400m of the outdoor season crossing the line in 52.14 seconds. The time improves on her number four ranking in the program record books and sets an SDSU sophomore class record. She also ranks number one in the Mountain West and 23rd in all of NCAA in the event.
The native of Jamaica also ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay, helping the team to a 43.79 second finish. The time is fourth fastest in Aztec history and currently ranks as the fastest by a Mountain West relay team this season.
For the entire year, Foote has now garnered four weekly honors from the conference, also claiming three during the indoor season.
