COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On Wednesday, the Mountain West Conference announced its weekly awards for tennis and San Diego State's Yasmine Kabbaj was named Mountain West Player of the Week.

Kabbaj's week also earned her the 98th spot in the singles rankings while the team took the No. 60 spot.

She brings home the award for the second time this season after garnering the accolade on February 21. Kabbaj is the only Aztec to win Player of the Week this season.

Kabbaj (11-2) won both her singles matches during the week. She played Air Force's Arianna Van Houweling and earned a 6-2, 6-1 win. In the second match of the week, Kabbaj played Katherine Jhang. After falling in the first set tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5), she came back to win the second and third sets 6-2 to clinch a 4-3 win over first-place New Mexico. The Aztecs were shorthanded and had to default on two courts but persevered to hand the Lobos their second loss of the season and first of conference play. Kabbaj played on the top court in both matches.

In doubles, she played with Myah Petchey (6-5), also on the first court. The pair beat Air Force's Van Houweling and Nadia Kojonroj 6-3 before taking down New Mexico's Jhang and Hoppe 6-2.

This week, Kabbaj and the Scarlet and Black play at the Aztec Tennis Center for the final time this season. The Aztecs host Colorado State on Friday and Fresno State on Sunday. Prior to Sunday's match, the team will honor seniors Myah Petchey, Andjela Skrobonja and Yasmine Kabbaj.
