SAN DIEGO – Xiamara Young is headed to Boston, Mass. to represent San Diego State at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She was selected as a qualifier by the NCAA committee last week to compete in triple jump.
The Las Vegas native enters the weekend ranked tenth in the country with a mark of 13.42m (44-0.5). She recorded the jump on her sixth and final attempt at the Mountain West Indoor Championships where she claimed the silver medal.
She is the fifth different Aztec jumper to qualify in the event, joining SDSU Hall of Famers Karoline Koehler (2008-10) and Shanieka Thomas (2011-14), as well as Decontee Kaye (2009) and Simone Johnson (2023). This will be the tenth season of having a triple jump qualifier at the national indoor championship meet in program history.
The NCAA Indoor Championships are March 7-9 at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass. Young is set to compete on Saturday, March 9 at 3:30 p.m. PT (6:30 p.m. ET) live on ESPN+.
