SAN DIEGO - Head Coach Kylee White has announced the three captains for the 2024 season. They include fifth-year Avery Dyer and seniors Courtney Anderson and Mia Kohn.

Dyer was the backup goalie to the school's record holder in career save percentage, Sam Horan (.471), for the last two years, seeing only 103 minutes of action. She had nine saves on 30 shots faced. Coach White says "Avery keeps people focused. She holds people accountable for the little things. She's a strong, confident leader and a good role-model."

Anderson has played in 13 games, starting only one. She has one ground ball and two caused turnovers. Anderson has received the Scholar Athlete Award and was on the College of Sciences Dean's List every semester of the last three years, and has received the Malik Award four times. "Courtney has a great work ethic," says Coach White. "The way she builds people up and leads by example, people look up to her."

Kohn has appeared in 41 games for the scarlet and black, playing in all 16 her junior year. She has accumulated 18 points with 16 goals and two assists, as well as nine ground balls and four caused turnovers. "Mia is the heartbeat of this team, always full of energy." Coach White explained. "When voted captain, her teammates said she is vocal, and that she checks in on them on and off the field. She is a compassionate, caring, and positive leader."

"All three of these ladies are so respected, they're an incredible group of leaders and are highly deserving of this honor," exclaims Coach White. "They love their teammates and hold them accountable. They excel in and out of the classroom. They do everything that's asked of them, going above and beyond. They have nothing but pride for this team and they embody everything that an Aztec Lacrosse player aspires to be."

This trio and the rest of the Aztecs open the season with an exhibition game against Pomona-Pitzer (DIII) on Saturday, February 3, at 9am at Aztec Lacrosse Field. The first official home game will be Saturday February 17, at noon as the Aztecs take on the Aggies of UC Davis.
