SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women's track and field team has announced the addition of two distance runners joining the program for this season. Isabella Fauria and Samantha Wood both come to The Mesa from other Mountain West institutions.
Fauria comes to SDSU from the University of New Mexico where she competed in cross country, indoor, and outdoor for three years. With the Lobos, she ran in two outdoor conference championship meets, one indoor, and this year's cross country championships. She also ran in the NCAA Cross Country Regionals this past season, posting a time of 22:35.7. During the 2022 season, she helped her team become runners-up at the NCAA Championships. On the track, she has competed in the 800m for both indoor and outdoor along with the indoor mile and the outdoor 1,500m.
A three-time MW All-Academic selection and two-time scholar-athlete, she owns personal bests of 18:10.9 (XC 5k), 22:24.7 (XC 6k), 2:15.47 (indoor 800m), 4:58.28 (indoor mile), 2:15.40 (outdoor 800m), and 4:33.22 (outdoor 1,500m).
Wood joins the Aztecs after two years at Boise State where she also competed in all three seasons of cross country, indoor, and outdoor. The Idaho native also brings postseason experience, competing in two NCAA Cross Country Regionals, and five total Mountain West Championships. A top 20 finisher at this year's conference cross country championship meet, she ran a 20:50.9 in the 6k race. On the track, she has run in the mile, 3,000m and 5,000m during the indoor season and the 1,500m and 5,000m during the outdoor season.
She owns personal bests of 17:22.17 (XC 5k), 20:47.5 (XC 6k), 5:01.64 (indoor mile), 9:54.34 (indoor 3,000m), 17:07.57 (indoor 5,000m), 4:35.79 (outdoor 1,500m) and 17:01.58 (outdoor 5,000m).
