SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State men's tennis team will begin its 2023 fall schedule this week in the USTA Pro Futures tournament in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Scarlet and Black will be represented by Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice and Chikaya Sato. The event runs on Monday, September 25 and Tuesday, September 26.

A mainstay in the second spot in the Aztec lineup last season, Sato played at an All-Mountain West caliber in both singles and doubles. He was one of just two SDSU players to compete in every dual match.

Gonzalez Fitzmaurice will look to carry over his success from the end of last season, when he won his final five singles matches, the longest such streak on the team all season. He also brought home the first two Mountain West Freshman of the Week awards in program history during his stellar first season on The Mesa.

Following this weekend's tournament, San Diego State will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma, next weekend, for the ITA All-American Championships starting on Saturday, September 30.
